TMJ PAIN
The term TMJ is short for temporomandibular joint. The TMJ is the joint located at the angle of the jaw that allows our mandible (lower jaw) to move. It is one of the most complex joints in our body because of the multiple plans it operates in. The TMJ is complicated because it is able to move up and down, side to side, forward and backwards and does so when used for eating and talking. While it is not clear exactly what causes TMJ pain it appears that joint restriction and muscular imbalance may play a part.
